Lehighton Rocktoberfest to aid breast cancer

The Lehighton Downtown Initiative will host Rocktoberfest to benefit breast cancer awareness in the borough's newly painted amphitheater from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Berger Painting Service was hired by the LDI to paint the amphitheater.Gerry Berger and his son, Dalton, painted and restored the amphitheater, while Gerry's dad, Robert D. Berger Jr., donated his time to paint the hand railing leading to the amphitheater.The colors chosen to paint the amphitheater are maroon and white to match Lehighton's school colors.Jared McEvoy, president of the LDI, said the group was glad to assist the community."The LDI is excited that they were able to do this for the community, and look forward to seeing the bands play in the amphitheater for Rocktoberfest," McEvoy said.Bands scheduled to perform on Saturday include Damian Walck from noon to 4 p.m. by the fountain; Mike Stanley from noon to 2 p.m. in the amphitheater; Hats from 2-4 p.m. in the amphitheater; Psyd-Fx from 4-6 p.m. in the amphitheater; and Blunt from 7:30-10 in the amphitheater.Scheduled acts for Sunday are Asialena from 1-4 p.m. by the fountain; Jean & The American Band from noon to 2 p.m. in the amphitheater; Bedlam Blues from 2-4 p.m. in the amphitheater; and November Lounge from 4-6 p.m. in the amphitheater.There will also be plenty of food, a beer garden, crafters, tricky tray, cut-a-thon by The Style Zone, pumpkin painting, and direct sales vendors.A coaster race will be held at noon on Saturday. "Everyone has someone in their lives that is affected by cancer; with the bands, vendors and local participation, this will be a great event to help the cause of battling this terrible disease."
