Colts' McFadden cops Schuylkill title

Marian's Albert McFadden won the Schuylkill League individual golf title on Monday.

The Colts' Nick Kurzinsky finished tied for third, while Tamaqua's Carson Schoener ended sixth.GOLFSchuylkill Championship at Schuylkill Country ClubMarian's Albert McFadden captured the Schuylkill League golf title at the annual individual championships, held at the Schuylkill Country Club.The senior fired a round of 76 to better the runner-up, Pottsville's Alex Everly, by three strokes.This is McFadden's second crown, also winning the title during his freshman season.The Colt carded a 40 on the front nine, and shot par (36) on the back end.McFadden was joined in the top five by his teammate, Nick Kurzinsky. The Marian junior finished with an 81 to tie Evan Salamone of Lourdes for third place.The two Colt golfers have automatically qualified for District 11 championships, thanks to their top five finishes. Districts will take place on Oct. 10 at Locust Valley Golf Course.Tamaqua's Carson Schoener also turned in a solid showing, shooting an 83 to take sixth place. Schoener also automatically qualified for districts.
