Man in custody after Lehigh Twp. shooting incident

An Orefield man turned himself in to Lehigh Township at 1 a.m. Friday after being involved in an shooting incident on Thursday afternoon in the township.

Police Chief Scott M. Fogel said Michael William Belcher, 36, was taken in custody and transported to Northampton County Central Booking awaiting his arraignment.Police said a warrant had been issued for Belcher's arrest after the incident at 3:49 p.m. in the 4200 block of Mountain View Drive, Walnutport.Police said they were called there to investigate a report of gun shots being fired, and discovered a single shot from a long black gun was discharged from the roadway into a residence.Police said through the investigation, they secured a warrant for Belcher's arrest, who had been considered armed and dangerous.Fogel said no injuries or fatalities were reported as result of the shooting and a motive has not been disclosed. Due to the ongoing investigation, no additional information is being released, he said.
