Tamaqua man threatens person with a knife

Three days after being called to Cherry Street in Tamaqua for reported gunfire on Sept. 6, Tamaqua Police were back in the area to deal with a man who was reportedly threatening someone with a knife.

Officers were dispatched to Cherry Street at 2 p.m. on Sept. 9 for a disturbance. On scene, they spoke with a resident, who said Jason Seblin, 40, had threatened to stab him with a knife.Initially, Seblin refused to exit the home, telling officers he would be out after he took his medication. After taking what turned out to be Klonopin, Seblin came out of the home and was immediately placed in handcuffs before being searched and transported to the police station. He was then interviewed by a crisis intervention employee, who determined there was no basis to have him committed on a 302 warrant.Seblin was then arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer on charges of making terroristic threats and harassment. Bail was set at $25,000, which the defendant was unable to post.He was lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.
