Susquehanna volleyball player Marykate Sherkness has be named the Landmark Conference volleyball Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 18.

Sherkness, a Marian High School graduate and former Times News Volleyball Player of the Year, totaled five kills in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall while also dominating at this past weekend's 11th-annual River Hawks Classic.Sherkness had a combined 50 kills, five digs and one block as SU went 3-1 on the weekend. The senior outside hitter was also selected to the All-Tournament team.This season, Sherkness is third on the team in kills with 98 and has played in 38 sets for a kills/set percentage of 2.58 (second on the team). She has 16 digs and nine total blocks.The River Hawks are 10-3 overall this season.
