A domestic dispute in Tamaqua on Sept. 11 earned Sean A. Maraj, 32, of East Elm Street, Tamaqua, some time in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville.
Tamaqua police responded to multiple calls of a domestic dispute in progress in the 600 block of East Elm Street at 5:20 p.m. They spoke with a female victim and two witnesses, all of them stating that Maraj assaulted the woman, who was holding a baby at the time. The victim was choked, slapped and punched, with one of the blows striking the child's head.The baby was transported by ambulance to St. Luke's Miners Campus for an evaluation.Maraj was arrested and arraigned before duty District Judge David Plachko on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. Bail was set at $50,000 straight cash, which Maraj was unable to post.
