Woman cited twice for public drunkenness

A Coaldale woman was cited twice recently due to her conduct.

Jessica Tonkin, 34, of West Ridge Street was cited on Aug. 18 after she continually screamed and yelled at officers who were checking on the welfare of three children. Tonkin stood on her porch, cursing the officers and causing a disturbance. When an officer suggested she go inside and stop making a commotion, Tonkin refused and again began cursing. The officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and cited her for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. On Sept. 5, an officer saw Tonkin walking down Anthracite Street carrying an orange and white safety barrier over her head. When asked where the barrier came from, she became belligerent and uncooperative. The officer noted her speech was slurred and she had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath, earning her a citation for public drunkenness.
