Lake Harmony Rescue Squad President Charlotte Blackwell addressed the Kidder Township supervisors at Thursday's meeting.

"We took possession of our new ambulance as of yesterday," Blackwell said. "I want to thank the supervisors, the fire commission and all those who supported us in this endeavor."In August the township had released $40,962 to the rescue squad toward the cost of the ambulance.The township also took possession of a new, unmarked police car earlier this month. The township was able to purchase the vehicle outright with the help of a grant.Police Chief Matthew Kuzma also announced the hiring of a new part-time police officer, Jacob Dinkelacker. Dinkelacker has three years of police experience and was hired at $16 per hour.Township manager Lisa Klem said the new parking lot expansion project has begun. The new driveway will cost the township $82,801.97. Klem noted that a change order was made to add a third light in the new driveway that will be located by the recycling bins.The township also received a dirt and gravel grant for low-volume roads and will be undertaking repairs to pipes and drainage swales along Old Stage Road. The amount of the grant is $17,325.Leaf pickup on township roads should be starting in mid-October, according to supervisor Bruce Berger. A schedule will be posted on the township website.The township will be holding a 2017 Budget Workshop at 5 p.m. Thursday.
