Rush Township has two sign ordinances in place to curb the placement of items on regulatory signs in the township.

On a unanimous vote, the township's board of supervisors on Thursday adopted an ordinance that prohibits the placing, securing, or affixing of any sign or item on any traffic regulation sign of the township.The township also adopted an ordinance that prohibits leaving signs or items on posts, poles, or on the ground within public right of way.The ordinance says signs must be removed within 48 hours after the event being advertised has occurred.Signs may be posted no event longer than 30 days.The ordinance calls for people who place things on regulatory signs, such as stop signs and yield signs, with fines ranging from $100 to $1,000, depending on the number of infractions.Other actionSupervisors also approved the following:• ARP Beverages LLC, to move a restaurant liquor license into the township, and to apply to the Pennsylvania Liquor Board to transfer the license for use at One Stop Fuel, 704 Claremont Ave. in Tamaqua.• Arthur Zeplin's letter of resignation from the Northeastern Schuylkill Joint Municipal Authority, and to advertise for a new board member.Anyone interested may send a letter of qualification to NESJMA, 6 Holly Road, Barnesville.• Rush Township Fire Police will assist with the Tamaqua Halloween Parade at 7 p.m. Oct. 25.
