Jim Thorpe Area School District Assistant Principal Shawn Kopp's resignation was accepted at Monday's board meeting.

"Mr. Kopp has resigned his position in the JTASD for an administrative position in the Huntington Area School District. It is anticipated that he will begin his new position beginning Oct. 3, 2016," Superintendent Brian J. Gasper said.Kopp has served at Jim Thorpe as an assistant principal for the past two years."Mr. Kopp is a highly regarded member of the Olympian family and will be truly missed. Of course, we wish him well on this new chapter in his professional career," Gasper said.The district will be conducting interviews for a K-12 assistant principal over the next few weeks, with an anticipated recommendation by the end of September.In other personnel matters, the board also accepted the resignation of Spanish teacher Jenna Hoffert, as well as paraprofessional Susan Joyce. The posting of the open positions was approved as well.Dustin McAndrew was approved as an instructional resource teacher for the Health & Physical Education Department for the amount of $685.Tonia Schaeffer was approved as the co-adviser for the class of 2020 for the amount of $660. Schaeffer is a high school business and computer science teacher, who also heads the school's FBLA group.
