Results of sobriety checkpoint

The Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Labor Day weekend.

The patrols resulted in five motorists being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.In addition, 12 motorists were released after passing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, 17 traffic citations were issued and 27 warnings were also issued.Also, a motorist was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.Pennsylvania State Police remain committed to the safety of all citizens of the commonwealth and guests.The goal of sobriety checkpoints is to remove impaired drivers from our highways and roadways.
