DUI checkpoint nets drunken driver arrest

State police at Lehighton said a 35-year-old Kunkletown man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of an incident at a DUI checkpoint on Old Route 115, near Kunkletown Road, in Ross Township.

The incident happened at 2:10 a.m. Sept. 11 when the man was stopped for making an illegal U-turn, as well as other traffic violations. Police said the man, whose name was not released, displayed signs of impairment and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center for processing.Police said the charges are pending the results of BAC tests.
