The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor announces the following trail closures due to construction for the Carbon County Connectivity Project. For everyone's safety, the D&L asks that all trail users observe all trail closed signs and barriers.

• The D&L Marvin Gardens Trailhead, East Penn Township will be closed. Bowmans Road and access to the Lehigh River will remain open.• The D&L Trail at Bowmans Road, East Penn Township will be closed.There will be no access to the Lehighton section of trail during the construction period from Bowmans Road/Marvin Gardens Trailhead area.• The D&L Lehighton Trailhead in the borough of Lehighton will remain open from the Lehighton Trailhead to the start of the construction zone, just above the Marvin Gardens Trailhead/Bowmans Road area. There will be no trail southbound access beyond this construction zone.The D&L Lehighton Trailhead, Borough of Lehighton:• The trail will remain open from the Lehighton Trailhead to the start of the construction zone, just above the Marvin Gardens Trailhead/Bowmans Road area. There will be no trail southbound access beyond this construction zone.Anyone planning trips to the D&L Trail in this area during construction should use of the East Penn Boat Launch Trailhead, off Route 895 on Riverview Road in East Penn Township. The trail is open from this point south to the D&L Cementon Trailhead. The construction period is scheduled to end on Oct. 31.Funding for the project is being provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, William Penn Foundation and matching funds from the construction of the new Pennsylvania Turnpike Bridge in Parryville. This project will provide safer, more continuous trail access for local residents and the eliminate three gaps, while the D&L works toward its goal to connect the 165-mile D&L Trail by 2020. With the completion of this project along with the upcoming D&L pedestrian bridge in Jim Thorpe in 2018, Carbon County will be the first of the five counties comprising the Corridor in which the D&L Trail will be completed in its entirety.
