Schuylkill County judges have sentenced the following people charged by local police.

Thomas K. Fahringer, 58, Tamaqua: Charged by Tamaqua police on July 9 with possessing an instrument of crime and simple assault.Judge Charles M. Miller sentenced him to two years of probation and to pay $7,111.97 in restitution.Two counts of aggravated assault, a count of simple assault and a charge of harassment were dropped.Garrett Novotnak, 22, Tamaqua: Charged by state police at Frackville with giving a false statement on Oct. 16.Judge James P. Goodman sentenced him to 12 months of probation and fined him $200.James M. Schafer, 29, Lehighton: Rush Township police charged him with driving under the influence on Feb. 22.Goodman sentenced him to five days to six months in jail, and fined him $300.Charges of failure to drive at a safe speed, improper turning movements and reckless driving were dropped.
