A Lansford woman faces drug-related charges by Nesquehoning police after she brought drugs into the county prison.

A felony arrest warrant is active against Adelaida L. Cruz, 32, of West Abbott Street, Nesquehoning police state, for the charges that stem from a July 1 incident.According to the affidavit, Nesquehoning officer Richard Neikam was called to the Carbon County Correctional Facility for a report of contraband found on an inmate, identified as who was brought to the facility on an arrest warrant by Lehighton police.Corrections officers told police that after their initial search of Cruz, they discovered 30 white packets that contained heroin, as well as two empty cellophane bags with residue in them after Cruz asked to use the bathroom during her intake process by herself.The guard reported hearing crinkling as she stood outside the bathroom door and went in to find Cruz hiding the drugs in the toilet paper roll.Cruz told police that she had been set up.Cruz later posted $10,000 unsecured bail in an unrelated case involving charges that stemmed from an incident in Lansford.According to court records, in that case, she faces charges of providing a false identification to law enforcement, and drug possession.The case was transferred over to the Court of Common Pleas.Nesquehoning police said if anyone knows Cruz's whereabouts, call police at 570-669-9111, attention Neikam.
