Municipal liens

The Borough of Lehighton has filed municipal liens against the owners of two properties in the borough who are delinquent in payment of their utility bills. The defendants are: Pat F. Boni, 111 N. 12th St., and Lucy Akers, 340 N. First St. The Boni lien is in the amount of $774.51 and the Akers lien is in the amount of $581.21. In both cases, the borough states the defendants are delinquent in water, sewer, garbage and electric bills.The Borough of East Side has filed municipal liens against the owners of three properties in the borough who are delinquent in payment of their utility bills.The defendants are Michael F. and Christine P. Dotter, 618 Centre St., White Haven; Erica M. Koloski and Marytina Gurnari, both of Mountaintop, for property at 5007 State St., White Haven; and Vernon C. Gold II, 1469 River St., White Haven.The Dotter lien is in the amount of $4,101.20. The Koloski/Gurnari is in the amount of $850.45 and the Gold lien is in the amount of $1,554.15. In all three cases, the borough states the defendants are delinquent in sewer and garbage bills.Mortgage foreclosuresThe U.S. Bank N.A., as trustee for the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, has filed a mortgage foreclosure complaint against Patric O. Hettman Jr., 251 Avenue B, Palmerton, over a property at that address.Judgment in the amount of $62,886.54, plus interest, costs, fees and attorney's fees, is sought.Homebridge Financial Services, Iseling, New Jersey, has filed a mortgage foreclosure complaint against Marshall E. and Amanda Eldridge, 93 N. Kittatinny Road, Lehighton, over a property at that address.Judgment in the amount of $113,386.38, plus interest, costs, fees and attorney's fees, is sought.Credit card defaultsDiscover Bank, New Albany, Ohio, has filed two credit card default actions.Named defendant in one of the cases is John E. Massoni, 25 Blackfoot Trail, Albrightsville. The plaintiff is seeking judgment in the amount of $4,669.71, plus costs.The second suit lists Bernadette M. Vachon, 1905 Deer Lane, Lehighton, as the defendant. Discover is asking for an entry of judgment in its behalf in the amount of $1,394.68, plus costs.To memorialize judgeJudge Roger N. Nanovic, president judge of the Court of Common Pleas, has issued an order of court appointing a committee of lawyers to prepare a memorial resolution commemorating the legal and judicial career of Judge Richard W. Webb, who passed away on Aug. 20 of this year.William Z. Scottis chairman of the committee, which also includes retired President Judge John P. Lavelle, retired District Attorney Gary F. Dobias, and James A. Wimmerand Michael J. Garfieldother current members of the Carbon County Bar Association.Judge Nanovic requests the committee present the resolution to the county en banc at a date to be determined by attorney Scott and Judge Nanovic, following publication in the Carbon County Law Journal.Promissory noteFirst Niagara Bank N.A., successor in interest to Harleysville Bank and Trust Co., assignee of Citizens Bank, Buffalo, New York, is seeking judgment in the amount of $49,059.55, plus interest and costs, for the default of a promissory note signed by Fred H. and Deborah J. Norton, 12 W. Oak St., Tresckow.The bank contends the defendants signed the note and entered into a business agreement on Sept. 8, 1999, initially listing a property at 119-121 S. Kennedy Drive, McAdoo, as collateral.A subsequent installment note and security agreement signed by the defendants is dated Feb. 17, 2012.The bank is seeking judgment to pay for the original note, reimbursement for delinquent real estate taxes owed on the property, appraisal costs and attorney's fees.
