A LOOK BACK

A swimming and craft program at Lake Hauto ended for the season with an Olympic program, the first in Lake Hauto, in which 84 children competed.

The children started lessons July 7, ranging from beginning to advanced swimmer and life guarding. The American Red Cross-authorized courses were taught by Irene Genther, water safety instructor.The advanced swimmers were also offered a show of synchronized swimming, and competed in 25-meter springs for gold, silver and bronze medals.The craft program, directed by Chris Moran, was held in conjunction with the swimming lessons, with parents of the swimmers providing a different craft each day.
