Nesquehoning VFW auxiliary meets

The regular monthly meeting of the auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 was held onAug. 14, with President Cheri Santore presiding.

General Orders 1 were read and filed for action. Communication from District President Guyette Callas was also received; the next district meeting will be on Sept. 25 at Milford. Correspondence was also received from the Liberty War Bird Association.A community bloodmobile was held at the Post Home on Aug. 17. One hundred-twenty cards were sent since the last meeting. Information on both the Voice of Democracy and the Patriot's Pen programs has been given to the Panther Valley school. The deadline for both programs is Nov. 1.Reports were given on the Department Convention, which was held in June, and the post's 70th anniversary celebrationin July.Donations were approved for the National President's Visit, National Veterans Service, VFW Sports Clip Program, Unmet Needs, Operation Uplink, MAP, VFW National Home Military and Veterans Family Helpline, the Erie Diabetes Walk and the Liberty War Bird Association. The auxiliary's annual cancer donation to the Department Cancer Fund will also be made.A pig roast will be held at the post onSept. 17; info is available at the post home.A 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The public is invited to attend.The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday.
