Man beaten to death with shotgun, shoved in car trunk

BETHELHEM, Pa. (AP) - An eastern Pennsylvania man police allege was high on a synthetic drug is accused of bludgeoning another man to death with a shotgun before an accomplice helped him hide the body in the trunk of a car.

Thirty-year-old James Heimbach is charged in the killing at his Bethlehem apartment last week and 32-year-old Charles Yocum is charged with abuse of a corpse. Both were arraigned Tuesday in Northampton County.Investigators say the victim was killed after the three used flakka, a synthetic drug similar to bath salts. Police say body of the victim, whose name hasn't been released, was rolled up in a carpet.Court documents indicate that both Heimbach and Yocum requested representation by the county public defender's office, which said no attorneys had been assigned to their cases.
