Two facing DUI charges

Two drivers are facing driving under the influence charges in separate incidents in Carbon County with one involving a hit-and-run incident.

State police at Fern Ridge said the hit-and-run incident occurred at 2:31 p.m. Aug. 15 along Route 534, east of Hemlock Road, in Penn Forest Township. Troopers said Terry Nicholas Cinkaj, 54, ofKennesaw, Georgia, was involved in a crash with Gary Michael Wardell Jr., 21, ofLansford, and then fled the scene. He left his vehicle along Woodland Road, inside the Indian Mountain Lakes development, and was found walking on North Shore Drive covered in mud and water. Cinkaj was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody. He refused to submit to a blood test. He was also charged with accidents involving damage to attended vehicles or property and a related traffic citation.He was committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning following arraignment.The second arrest occurred at 9:09 p.m. Aug. 19 along Route 903 at the turnpike in Penn Forest Township. Lauren Marie Clifford, 26, of Albrightsville, was stopped during a checkpoint operation and was placed under arrest for DUI, troopers said.
