Crews rescue two women Monday at Glen Onoko

Emergency crews were called out Monday to a pair of rescues at Glen Onoko Falls in Jim Thorpe.

According to reports at the scene, the woman fell 30 feet. She was flown from the scene.Earlier that day, a 31-year-old woman was injured while climbing the trail to the Glen Onoko Falls.Jim Thorpe, Nesquehoning and Lehigh & Lausanne companies responded to the first call around 1 p.m.Rescuers took just over an hour to complete the rescue.The Doylestown woman was transported by Palmerton ambulance to the Gnaden Huetten hospital.Efforts to reach Jim Thorpe Fire Chief Bill Diehm in time for today's publication were unsuccessful.Emergency crews have responded to various rescues at the falls throughout the spring and summer.That includes several tragedies, one at the falls, and another near it.In August, crews recovered the body of a man from the Lehigh River near Glen Onoko.The drowning was not related to the Glen Onoko Falls, where two men were injured, one fatally, in a fall earlier this year. It was the third death in the park this year.In April, a 72-year-old White Haven man was found dead along the Lehigh Gorge Trail after suffering an apparent heart attack while cycling.
