Schuylkill County Treasurer Linda Marchalk announced that her office, along with state Sen. David G. Argall and Reps. Neal Goodman, Jerry Knowles and Mike Tobash, will host a tax collectors' meeting for the benefit of all Schuylkill County Tax Collectors at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14, at Roman's Lounge & Catering, Frackville.

Sean Sanderson of the Governor's Center for Local Government Services will speak about Legislative Act 48 regarding tax collector certification and continuing education requirements.There is no charge for the tax collectors to attend the event thanks to the following sponsors: Anthracite Abstract Co. Inc., Strouse and Strouse and Wendy E. Knorr Real Estate LLC.Act 48 of 2015 was signed into law in October 2015. The bill changes the mandatory continuing education and background clearance requirements for Pennsylvania tax collectors. All tax collectors must take two hours of continuing education credits per term."This meeting is an exciting opportunity to have all Schuylkill County tax collectors meet to learn about the recent changes with the legislation and an opportunity to exchange information among all tax collectors," Marchalk said.
