August 29, 2003 - Northwestern's Chris Schmoyer, in the game only to give starter Pete McCauley a breather, breaks loose for a 40-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to lift the Tigers to a 7-3 Colonial League victory over Notre Dame. The carry is Schmoyer's only one of the contest. McCauley does rush for 94 yards, while the NW defense limits their opponent to just 68 yards of offense. Raub Murray, who makes a number of key open-field tackles, also intercepts a pass late in the game to preserve the victory.
