For application and information, call 610-349-7532 or 570-325-8169.Community FestivalThe 27th Annual Palmerton Community Festival is scheduled for Sept. 9 from 5-11 p.m., Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. -11 p.m., and Sept. 11 from noon-9 p.m. in the Palmerton Borough Park. The event is held rain or shine. There is no admission charge, plenty of free continuous entertainment, rides, Chinese auction, games, crafts and lots of homemade foods. Parking is free and handicapped parking is available in the area of the Parkside School and First Northern Bank on Fourth Street.Starting this year the Duck Race has been retired. The Treasure Chest, once a staple of the days of the Palmerton Hospital Festival, has been brought back and restored. Drawing tickets are available from any nonprofit group participating in the festival or during the festival at the information booth.For everyone's safety, pets, bikes, skateboards and roller skates are not allowed in the park the entire weekend. The CACPAC-sponsored pantry is located at St. John's Towamensing Lutheran Church, 2925 Fireline Road, Palmerton.The pantry serves households in Palmerton, Towamensing and Lower Towamensing townships, and the Palmerton School District including Bowmanstown.
