Erica Felix enjoys writing in a variety of genres.

The Lehighton resident said she writes about whatever strikes her fancy. Her first book was a fictional romantic short story. Then this quiet and shy author wrote about her children and her parents. She didn't stop there though.Felix also tried her hand at writing a children's book, which she published. She has two more children's books in the works, plus a horror story, and a fictional tale about a drug addict."This is what I enjoy doing," she said.Felix works a little backward when it comes to writing her books."I come up with the title and run with that to write the book," she said. The story builds from that central theme.Felix began writing books in 2009.Before that, she had been caring for her parents, both stricken with colon cancer. They died within 10 months of each other after 41 years of marriage."Something inspired me," she said. From that inspiration, Felix wrote "The Words She Thought She Would Never Hear." The books were self-published through America Star Books. She also co-wrote a song about her parents titled "Nothing I Wouldn't Do" through Nashville Song Service."We all realize that cancer is out there," she said. "It takes a lot of people."Felix soon ventured into writing children's books and publisheda story about a girl that makes friends with a chimpanzee titled, "Jay Bee and Me."Felix's books are available in paperback and e-book formats at Barnes and Noble and Amazon. In the next few years, Felix looks forward to getting her other books published. No matter what, she said she intends to keep writing and publishing.
