West Penn Township police Sgt. Jason Lorah has taken a driver into custody after a crash along Route 309.

The crash occurred at 10:45 p.m. as the male from Hereford was traveling south climbing the Blue Mountain.The driver lost control of his van swerving to the right entering the berm where it impacted with and snapped of a utility pole.The driver told authorities he was traveling from the Wilkes-Barre to home, admitting he had three drinks.Responding was the West Penn Fire Company No. 1, whose fire police maintained traffic control at the scene and New Ringgold Community Ambulance.
