The next monthly community soup social at Trinity United Church of Christ will be heldSept. 3. The meal was catered by A and C Catering of Mahanoy City, with members bringing desserts to share.Joan Wall and Gloria McHale were welcomed back after absences.A regular meeting was held Aug. 18 with 59 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session. One new member, Grace Sakusky, was warmly welcomed.Ruthann Feane provided the inspirational reading "Summer Blue." A moment of silence was held in honor of Shirley Shellhammer. A bus trip to the Dutch Way Kitchen in Myerstown is scheduled for Sept. 19.The Aug. 25 meeting will include a celebration of July and August birthdays.The group is open to anyone 55 or older. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.Calvary EvangelicalAll services and activities for Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley are being held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road, through Labor Day.The Rev. Phillip Sabas will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:15 a.m.The annual Labor Day camp meeting will be held from Fridaythrough Sept. 5 at the tabernacle.
