Summit Hill minimart wants to sell beer

A public hearing will be held tonight, prior to the meeting of the Summit Hill Borough Council, to determine if a minimart will be allowed to sell beer.

The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. at the borough building.Miners Beverages LLC, at 127 E. Amidon St., Summit Hill, is seeking to obtain a liquor license presently held by Terpstra's Tavern Inc., Fifth and North Streets, Jim Thorpe.The transfer of liquor licenses to entities located in different municipalities requires a public hearing.Attorney Michael S. Greek, solicitor for the borough, said in the legal notice, "Citizens will have the opportunity to make written or verbal comments on the liquor license transfer."Miners Beverages uses the address of Miners Market & Deli at the corner of Amidon and Pine Streets.Miners Market & Deli sells gasoline, tobacco products, some groceries coffee and some prepared food.
