Carbon County court - Parole/probation revocation
Carbon County judges conducted parole/probation revocation hearings recently on petitions filed by the adult probation office against defendants who violated the conditions of their release.
Following is a list of the most recent revocation proceedings.Keith Enlund,31, of Albrightsville, had his parole revoked on a charge of theft on petition of probation officer Joseph Bettine for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed; and testing positive for amphetamine, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Judge Steven R. Serfass resentenced him to serve four months' "back time" in the county prison effective April 6.Steven Craigie,32, of Jim Thorpe, had his parole revoked on a charge of driving under the influence on petition of probation officer Clifford Eckhart for violating conditions by testing positive for opiates, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Serfass resentenced him to serve the balance of his original sentence in prison which runs to Oct. 28, 2018. However, he was furloughed from the county prison on Aug. 5 to enter an inpatient long-term rehabilitation program. Failure to complete the program requires Craigie to return to the county prison and serve the balance of his sentence.David Palka,46, of Jim Thorpe, had his parole revoked on a charge of DUI on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by testing positive for amphetamine three times; admitted using nonprescribed Adderall; not making a concerted effort to pay court costs; failing to obtain drug and alcohol evaluation; and failure to complete safe driving classes.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II resentenced him to serve three months' "back time" effective Nov. 1. However, if he gets his drug and alcohol evaluation and follows the recommendations and pays $1,200 on his court costs, plus his regular monthly payments by that date, the new sentence will be vacated.Darrin Griffin,36, of Albrightsville, had his probation revoked on a charge of criminal trespass on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by testing positive for marijuana twice; admitted smoking a "blunt"; failing to submit to a urine screen; and failing to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Serfass resentenced him to serve two to six months in prison effective Aug. 6.Robert Bell,30, of Weatherly, had his probation revoked on a charge of theft on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by failing to complete 100 hours of community service.Serfass resentenced him to serve three to six months in prison effective Nov. 1. However, if he completes the 100 hours of service by that date the order will be vacated.Ricky Stevens,33, of Palmerton, had his probation revoked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance on petition of probation officer Kimberly Cooper for violating conditions by using a device to submit a false urine screen and testing positive for opiates and amphetamine, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Nanovic resentenced him to serve six to 12 months in prison with credit for 80 days already served.Michael Rehrig,33, of Palmerton, had his parole revoked on a charge of retail theft on petition of Cooper for violating conditions by being arrested on new criminal charges; testing positive for amphetamine and opiates; and being in possession of heroin drug paraphernalia.Judge Joseph J. Matika resentenced him to serve six months in prison effective May 27.ARD revokedThe following defendants had their placements in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program revoked.Frank Trotta, 26, of Lehighton, was revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of Cooper for violating conditions by testing positive for opiates, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Anthony Mammana, 20, of Palmerton was revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of Cooper for violating conditions by testing positive for marijuana and not completing drug and alcohol treatment.Stacey Fronheiser,27, of Scranton was revoked on a charge of simple assault on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by failing to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation; failing to obtain a mental health evaluation; and failing to complete anger management classes.All three had their cases placed on the next available trial list.
