The Lehighton Band will present its third and final concert under the stars for the season.

The concert will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Lehighton Amphitheater and is free to the public.The music for this concert is light and entertaining with a variety of styles to suit just about every taste in music.The concert opens with Alford's familiar "Colonel Bogey March," which is followed by James Swearingen's "Flight of Valor." This work, based on the well-known hymn "It Is Well With My Soul," is respectfully dedicated to the heroes of United Flight 93 who tragically lost their lives in a Pennsylvania field on Sept. 11, 2001.The first soloist of the evening will be clarinetist Vincent Roos, who will perform Warren Barker's arrangement of "But Not for Me."Judy Garland made this song famous in the 1943 movie "Girl Crazy." Roos is a lifelong musician, having been a Marine Corps musician and also playing with the Perseverance Jazz band on many occasions.Following this number, the entire clarinet section will join Roos with a light piece of music titled "Blazing Clarinets." Members of the clarinet section who will be featured are Casi, Short, Charles Uhler, Evelyn Uhler, Cindy Sabol, Sandy Molenaar and Cassie Snyder."Dies Irae," from Verdi's "Requiem," will be the band's next selection followed by "

S.I.B.A. March" and a piece of music titled "Pop and Rock Legends," featuring the music of Neil Diamond, including "America," "Cherry Cherry," "I'm a Believer" and many more."Montage," an enjoyable light piece of concert music, will round out this portion of the concert.The second soloist for the evening will be Laura Cressley, who will perform the theme from the movie "Schindler's List."Cressley is a 2016 graduate of Kutztown University, with a degree in music education. She has played for the Lehighton band for many years, and while at Kutztown, performed as principal flutist for many of their ensembles.The concert piece "Jubilance," also by Swearingen, is next on the program, followed by a piece of music titled "Michael!" which features the music of Michael Jackson including "Bad," "Man in the Mirror" and many more.The final full band piece is "Lights! Camera! Action!" which features theme songs from various movies including, "Hurrah for Hollywood," Tara's theme from "Gone With the Wind," the theme from "Chariots of Fire" and more. The band will close with John Phillips Sousa's march "Hands Across the Sea."The band is under the direction of Bradly R. Cressley.A freewill offering will be accepted following the concert.
