Two people pleaded guilty on Thursday in Carbon County court to driving under the influence, and related counts.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted pleas from:Eric Wyatt Peters, 34, of Slatington, was arrested on March 17, 2015, by state police at Lehighton in the700 block of Lehigh Street in Bowmanstown. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.Nanovic sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail on the DUI count and one year probation on the drug charge, running consecutively and consecutive to a prison term of three to 18 months he is currently serving which was imposed on Feb. 26.He must also pay a fine of $1,000 and a one-year license suspension. He was given credit for nine days and paroled.However, when it's time for him to be paroled, he will not be unless it is to a short-term inpatient rehabilitation facility, Nanovic ruled.Nanovic said his drug and alcohol evaluation recommended a short-term stay in a rehab facility.Amanda J. Minder, 31, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on March 13 in the1600 block of North Street in Jim Thorpe by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.13 BAC.A first offense, she was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
