It's the cops against the coaches in a friendly game of flag football.
That will be the case when the Lehighton Cops versus Coaches Charity Flag Football Game is held at 7 p.m. Friday at Baer Memorial Park, 1101 Bridge St.The contest will pit the Lehighton Area Police Departments, consisting of officers from Lehighton, Mahoning Township and Franklin Township, against the Lehighton Athletic Booster Club coaches.There is free admission to the event, which includes a concession stand, a Chinese auction, and 50/50 raffle.Those who attend can meet The Tribe for the upcoming football season.There will also be a halftime performance by the Lehighton Area Booster Club competition cheerleaders.The event is sponsored by Dr. Bruce Hartman.Tyler Meek, an officer with the Mahoning Township Police Department who also coaches football for the Lehighton Athletic Booster Club, said proceeds from the game will benefit the Lehighton Athletic Booster Club."It's for the coaches and cops to go out there and have a good time, show that they work well together, and show the kids they can talk to the cops and the coaches," Meek said.
