It is to help feed families going through emergency or other short-term situations that are not eligible for local, county or state programs and is limited to a 12-week lifetime duration per family. A valid driver's license or state ID with address proving residency in the West End is required.This ministry serves the communities of Effort, Gilbert, Kunkletown, Kresgeville, Brodheadsville, Saylorsburg, Sciota and Albrightsville.Mountain Bike DaySaturday is the day for Mountain Bike Day at the West End Regional Park, 578 Evergreen Hollow Road, Brodheadsville. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. There are over 4 miles of trails ready to ride. This year some new single track trails have been added. Refreshments have been in the planning and possible giveaways for those attending as well.Eric Peterson from Peterson's Ski and Cycle is scheduled to give a free clinic, and answer biking questions. Anyone needing to rent a bike, or who would like to try a 29-inch mountain bike, can rent one from Peterson's by calling 570-646-9223. One must call in advance as there have been no plans to have extra bikes at the park. Trails range from beginner to expert, with the emphasis being on the beginner and intermediate trails.All participants must wear helmets. West End Park and Open Space commission is hosting this event in conjunction with Pocono Medical Center as part of their Parks for Good Living program. More information is available at

The pantry is open from 9:30 to 11 a.m. the first and third Monday.Those who are served are asked for a photo I.D. and then are given various bags of food, which are either purchased by the pantry or are donations from various people or entities.
