Nesquehoning fire hosts company festival this weekend

This weekend, area residents looking for something to do can enjoy food, music and games at the Nesquehoning Hose Company No. 1's annual Community Festival.

The festival, located in the fire company's grove area at 953 E. Catawissa St., opens at 3 p.m. Saturdayand noon on Sunday.There will be homemade foods, including halushki, pierogies, wings, fresh cut fries, burgers, hot dogs, cheesesteaks and more, as well as activities for children and families. There will also be a Chinese auction in the fire company social hall and other community organizations set up on the grounds.On Saturday, DJ Ann Marie Calabrese starts things off.A firetruck parade through the borough will take place at 6 p.m. Fire companies participating in the parade should be at the Nesquehoning VFW, 300 Center St., before 4 p.m. Judging begins at 4.Following the parade, the band Mystery City will perform from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.On Sunday, Polka Joe Manjack will host his weekly radio show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the festival grounds. There will also be music by DJ Code Blue and Sweet Revenge, which takes the stage at 5:30 p.m.
