Police warn people about kidnapping attempt

Lehigh Township Police have conducted numerous interviews concerning a possible attempted child abduction on Sunday.

Police said Monday afternoon that interviews have been conducted in the surrounding area of the attempted abduction.It was reported that at 7:20 p.m., a white man, about 5-foot-10-inches, with a thin build and wearing a mask and gloves, attempted to grab a child in the 500-600 block of Cherryville Road.Based on the interviews, police said when the child screamed and ran, the suspect ran east through a corn field toward Cherry Road.Specific details regarding the incident are not being released to maintain the integrity of the investigation, police said.Police said this area of the township is rural, but is adjacent to residential developments, and police are asking residents to report any suspicious vehicles or people in the area promptly so police can investigate.Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 610-760-8800.
