Weatherly PD asking for help from public

Weatherly Police are asking for help from residents who were in an area of the borough where a fire broke out early Saturday morning.

The Weatherly Police Department sent out a post on social media Monday morning seeking information from anyone who may have been in the area of Third Street late Friday into Saturday morning.

"We are looking for anything or any persons that you might have seen. It doesn't matter how small or insignificant you think it might be, please let us know," the post read.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, a fast-moving blaze broke out in a house near the intersection of Third and Pardee streets. The fire destroyed two homes and damaged five more. Weatherly Police are investigating what caused the fire.

The intense fire reportedly melted siding off of homes across the street from where it occurred.

It's unclear whether police are looking for information on the fire itself, or an unrelated matter that also occurred on Third street. Chief Brian Markovchick was unavailable Monday.

Weatherly Police can be reached at 570-427-4241.
