Four people were injured in a three-vehicle crash that occurred about 12:34 p.m. on Wednesday along Route 54 in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Helen P. Lauricella, no age given, of Tamaqua, was driving a 2008 Ford Edge eastbound when she lost consciousness.Her vehicle crossed into the westbound lane where it sideswiped a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Shanna M. Poindexter, 36, of Tamaqua.The Edge continued on and then collided head-on with a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Mandy L. Starling, 34, of Mount Carmel.Lauricella was taken by Ryan Township ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton Campus. Starling and her passenger, Delen K. Starling, 46, of Mount Carmel were taken to St. Luke's Miners Campus in Coaldale by ambulance.Troopers said Poindexter sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.Troopers said Lauricella was cited for the crash.
