Lansford man is charged with lewdness with 13-year-old girl

Lansford police have charged a 53-year-old borough man with performing an obscene act in front of a 13-year-old girl.

Richard T. Ogozalek was charged with a felony county of unlawful contact with a minor - open lewdness, and misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and open lewdness.He was arraigned on July 14 before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek, and released on $50,000 unsecured bail. Ogozalek faces a preliminary hearing at 1:45 p.m. Aug. 8.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Charles W. Horvath, the child's mother reported the incident to police on July 2.She said the crime happened on June 30. She told them Ogozalek had come into the business where she also was and, having known each other, chatted. The woman mentioned to Ogozalek that her daughter was probably home alone.Ogozalek initially denied being in Lansford on that night, but finally admitted being in the business when police told him it had video surveillance.He also initially denied speaking to the woman there.The child was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center in Scranton, where she told staff that Ogozalek came to her house that night and she let him in because she knew him. He took his clothes off and exposed himself to the girl.He implored her to "please don't tell. I'm going to get in a lot of trouble if you tell."
