Beginning Aug. 1, registration for the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor Half Marathon will increase from $75 to $80.

http://race.delawareandlehigh.org.This year's registration is 20 percent ahead of last year, and the race is capped at 1,000 participants.The D & L Heritage Half Marathon Run/Walk will be at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6.The D & L Heritage Half Marathon racecourse was reversed last year to be mostly downhill.The race starts at Northern Lehigh High School in Slatington, runs along the D & L Trail throughout the Lehigh Valley, and finishes at Canal Street Park in Northampton.Proceeds from the event help support the D & L Trail's history and future. Participants will have the opportunity to win runner and walker awards and random prizes. There will also be a post-race buffet, indoor facilities at the start and finish, and gender-specific technical T-shirts."Last year we had 880 runners and walkers in the half marathon, which was a 20 percent increase over 2014," said Ed Eppler, race director."This year we are about 20 percent ahead of 2015's registration, and we expect to fill at 1,000."Final registration deadline is Oct. 31. All runners and walkers completing the course in less than 4½ hours will receive finisher's medals.Awards will be presented to the top three male and female overall finishers in both the run and walk, and in age groups.To register go to
