A split vote developed when the Carbon County Retirement Board convened Tuesday in Jim Thorpe.

Composed of commissioners Albert U. Koch, Charles E. Wildoner and Dean D.W. DeLong, along with Controller John R. Williams and Treasurer Gilbert Gerhard, the board voted 3-2 on a motion by Wildoner to invest $300,000 with the Prudential Insurance Company and $250,000 with the Jim Thorpe National Bank.Williams provided the second and Chairman Koch joined in the affirmative roll call vote. Casting dissenting votes were Gerhard and DeLong, with the former stating bids had not been received from "at least eight other" financial organizations.
