Tamaqua renews contract with Schuylkill I.U.

Tamaqua Area School District has renewed an agreement for classroom space to conduct a preschool program.

On a 6-0 vote Tuesday, the school board approved the lease agreement between the district and the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 for a one-year term of July 1 through June 30, 2017 for $10,200.Directors Thomas Rottet, Mark Rother, and Bryan Miller were absent.The consideration for the agreement is $10,200 per year.OtherIn other business, the board approved:• Caitlin Miller as a substitute speech therapist, for the 2016 Extended School Year Program at the rate of $25 per hour, effective June 21, 2016.• Stephanie Bendarz as a part-time health room assistant at the rate of $15.86 per hour.• The retirement of Robert Vybrenner as a substitute custodian, effective July 7, 2016.• Tihanne Wright from the substitute custodian list.• Mark E. Beltz as auditorium manager/stage manager/audio visual manager.• Ray Kunkel as grounds and activity lead, at an additional 40 cents per hour.• Andrew Smarr Jr. as utility lead, at an additional 40 cents per hour.• Established a cutoff for financial assistance related to the dress code for household income less than 130 percent of the poverty guideline established by the Pennsylvania Department of Nutrition, and to establish the school uniform stipend for the 2016-17 school year at $25 per student.• The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit Technology Group agreement for services provided to support the district's financial software for an estimated cost of $19,956 for the 2016-17 fiscal year.• Donations to the Tamaqua Public Library ($3,500), and the Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission ($2,500).• The Children's Service Center Partial Hospital Program and the Therapeutic Educational Program Agreement, with the cost of the Partial Hospitalization Program $125 per day, and the Therapeutic Educational Program $165 per day.• The 2016-17 agreement between Child and Family Support Services Inc. of Pottsville, and the school district for provision of the Student Assistance Program and the Elementary Student Assistance Program.• The Meadows Psychiatric Center Agreement for educational services at $60 per day.• The request of Matt Hope for permission to use the triangular piece of school property on Stadium Hill for the 2016-17 year.• Approved a junior student for early graduation, contingent upon attaining the required courses and credits.
