Sept. 5, 2015, was a particularly bad day for a Bucks County man who visited a Carbon County park.

Paul James Rush, 51, of Quakertown, was boating near Beltzville State Park near the Pine Run Road launch area when he was arrested by park rangers for operating a watercraft while under the influence of a controlled substance.State police at Lehighton were also called to the lake for a report of an erratic driver, who turned out to be Rush.Troopers charged him with driving his vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance. A blood test revealed Rush had methamphetamine in his system.Rush entered pleas Tuesday in the county court before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to one count each of operating a watercraft while DUI, operating a watercraft in a negligent manner and DUI.On the watercraft count Nanovic sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and on the DUI count, 10 days to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000 and one-year license suspension. The jail terms run concurrently. On the negligent charge he was fined $200 and costs, ordered to pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.He began the jail term immediately.
