Thirteen first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program last week by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they will face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Stephen James Becker, 37, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of hinder apprehension. He was arrested on March 23 by Lansford for police for an incident in the area of 745 E. Patterson St.He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Barbara Josephine Blake, 55, of Sharon Hill, Delaware County, was placed on a charge of false alarm to an agency of public service. She was arrested on Jan. 23 by Kidder Township police for an incident at the Quality Inn along Route 940.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Lauren Krystine Dovan, 20, of Hazleton, was placed on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. She was arrested on March 1 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop.She was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 50 hours of community service.Kevin Koch, 59, of Nesquehoning, was placed for 18 months on a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police and recklessly endangering another person. He was arrested on Jan. 7 by Nesquehoning police along Route 54 near the Schuylkill County line.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 75 hours of community service.Lizabeth M. Kuklis, 26, of Lansford, was placed on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested on Feb. 13 by Summit Hill police along Route 902.She was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Maryanne Leitzel, 61, of Girardville, Schuylkill County, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence. She was arrested on Feb. 5 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. She refused to submit to a test.She was assessed $600, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.Cory James Maconeghy, 27, of Avoca, Luzerne County, was placed for a year on two pending cases involving charges of retail theft for incidents on at the Walmart store and Aldi's Market, both in Mahoning Township.He was assessed $450 and ordered to make total restitution of $107.46, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the two stores.Kayla Lyn Sherman, 25, of Scranton, was placed on a retail theft charge. This is a companion case to Maconeghy involving eh Walmart store.She was assessed $450 and ordered to make total restitution of $107.46, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the Walmart store.John P. Porambo Jr., 71, of Lansford, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Sept. 14, 2015, along Ridge Street by Lansford police. A test showed 0.15 BAC.He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.Andrews Alexander Rodriguez, 23, of Brentwood, New Jersey, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on March 25, along Route 903 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.09 BAC.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.James Xavier Sierra, 22, of Hazleton, was placed on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was arrested on Feb. 14 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge following a vehicle stop.He was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Chalid Stephen Smalls-Stokes, 19, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a charge of theft by unlawful taking. He was arrested on Feb. 4 by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store.He was assessed $450 and ordered to make restitution of $157.94, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the store.Darious Clark, 21, of Albrightsville, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on April 4, 2015, by Kidder Township police. No test information was available.He was assessed $600, ordered to render 50 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 90 days.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
