Schuylkill County Drug and Alcohol and Clinical Outcomes Group Inc. will present the program "Public Access to Narcan" on July 21 at the Tamaqua Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St.The program, which will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., will feature two guest speakers, Dr. John Stefovic M.D. of Clinical Outcomes Group Inc. and Ricky A. Ney Jr. NREMT-P and EMT instructor. They will be speaking on understanding addiction, opioid overdose prevention and overdose reversal through peer-administered naloxone.Preregistration is required and may be made online at
www.coginc.org or by calling 570-628-6990.Raider BandThe Tamaqua Raider Band will hold summer rehearsals from 9-11 a.m. onTuesday and July 23. These rehearsals are for all instrumentalists.Drum line rehearsals will be from 9-11 a.m. on July 21 and July 28.Old and New Night will be held on Aug 2. New members will rehearse from 4-6 p.m. All instrumentalists will rehearse from 6-8 p.m.Band Camp will begin at 8 a.m. Aug. 8. Camp is mandatory for all band members.All rehearsals will be held in the band room.Museum hoursThe Tamaqua Historical Society Museum is now open limited hours during the week.Summer hours will be in effect through Oct. 31 and include: Thursdays and Fridays, 3-8 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.Special tours are also available by appointment.For more information, email
dalefreud@gmail.com or call 610-597-6722.Middle schoolTamaqua Area Middle School Principal Christopher Czapla has announced an orientation session for students new to the school will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 23.Parents of sixth-graders, as well as seventh- and eighth-graders new to the district, are welcome to attend.Information will be presented on student schedules, activities, facilities and discipline.Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to follow their child's schedule, meet with teachers and become familiar with the MMS Student portal, student planners, the Accelerated Reader course, clubs and Middle States Accreditation.This will not be a time for parent/teacher conferences. Those may be scheduled for another date and time.For those unable to attend, orientation notes will be available on the middle school's website.Homeroom assignments will be posted on the school's front/main door as of Aug. 15.Zion LewistownPastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church of the Lewistown Valley.
