Senate appoints Schrantz to fill judge vacancy

Jim Thorpe native Eric Schrantz was appointed by the Pennsylvania State Senate on Wednesday to fill the vacant Carbon County 56-3-01 Magisterial Judge seat that was last held by 30-year Magisterial Judge, Edward Lewis.

“I would like to thank Governor Tom Wolf and my colleagues in the State Senate for working together to bring an exceptional and experienced law enforcement leader to the vacant Magisterial Judge position in Carbon County,” said Sen. John Yudichak, D–Carbon/Luzerne. “Eric Schrantz is a proud son of Carbon County and will serve its residents with knowledge, honor and justice.”Schrantz has served as a police officer in Carbon County for the past 15 years, serving the past 13 years as a full-time police officer with the Jim Thorpe Police Department.Schrantz received a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Kutztown University in 1999 and received his Magisterial Judge certification in 2015.“It has been a true honor to serve and protect the people of Jim Thorpe for the past 13 years and I’m grateful that I get to continue to serve the community in this new position,” Schrantz said.“I want to sincerely thank everyone that supported me in this appointment and I promise to work tirelessly to best serve the residents of Carbon County.”
