July 13, 1947 - Walter Slog sets a new Panther Valley League record by striking out 18 batters in Lansford's 6-0 victory over Summit Hill. Slog fires a three-hitter, walks just one, and doesn't allow a runner past second base. His 18 punch-outs breaks the old league mark of 16. Leo Olsovsky belts a three-run homer for the winners, while "Toss" Pointing adds two hits and scores a pair of runs. "Dubby" Derby adds two hits, and Larry Furey chips in with a hit and run scored.
