A Carbon County man was placed on probation on Friday after pleading guilty to one count of simple assault for an incident at Lansford tavern.

Erick S. Mack, 35, of Lansford entered the plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika for an incident on Nov. 27, 2015, at Kelly's Irish Pub on East Patterson Street.Lansford police responded to a report of an incident at the pub in which a knife was displayed. On scene police found Mack had an altercation with the owner of the establishmentand two others in the pub.In exchange for the plea, the district attorney's office dropped three counts of terroristic threats, two simple assaults and counts of persistent disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.The plea also gave Mack a break as the commonwealth did not seek the weapons enhancement provision. The commonwealth agreed the assault did not involve a knife.Matika noted that the commonwealth agreed to the bargain taking into consideration that Mack, a veteran, suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of his military service.Mack is no stranger to the criminal justice system. He previously pleaded to an arson charge in 2013 and was sentenced by Matika to serve six to one day less 24 months in the county prison. He was paroled but had a petition filed by the adult probation office to revoke his parole for failure to make a concerted effort to pay court costs and not complete community service. He served an additional six months in jail on the violation.Mack told the court he was getting treatment for his problems at two area VA hospitals.Matika placed him on probation for two years and ordered he render 50 hours of community service, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol, continue his current treatment program, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation and have no contact with the victims.It was noted the three victims agreed to the plea bargain, stating they only wanted Mack to get help for his problems.
