Jim Thorpe man pleads guilty in 3 cases

A Jim Thorpe man entered guilty pleas in three pending cases on Friday in Carbon County court and was sentenced to a state prison term.

Ryan Kyle Kristiansen, 27, pleaded to one count each of criminal conspiracy - criminal trespass and criminal conspiracy - burglary, and theft; and two counts of forgery before Judge Joseph J. Matika.He was scheduled to go on trial this week on the charges but instead entered a plea bargain with the district attorney's office.Matika sentenced him to serve a total of 18 to 36 months in a state correctional institution with credit for 284 days already spent in jail on the charges.Kristiansen admitted his part in a burglaryin the 1800 block of Packerton Dam Road in Mahoning Township on Sept. 19, 2015, in which jewelry, coin sets and other items were taken; his part in a burglary on Sept. 16, 2015,in the 200block of Teliha Drive in the township where a laptop, coins and jewelry were taken.In the third case, from which the forgery charges stem, he took the credit card from the Packerton Dam Road entry and used it for transactions in the area.A co-defendant in the cases, Tara Good, 31, of Albrightsville, is scheduled to go on trial during the September term of court.Kristiansen admitted to a heroin addiction.He told Matika, "I take full responsibility for my actions. I would not have done this without my drug addiction."Matika told him, "I hope you take advantage of what the state has to offer" for the drug problem.In addition to the jail term, Kristiansen was ordered to pay total restitution of $1,979.04, which is a half share of the total, render a total of 100 hours of community service when released on parole, pay court costs of about $1,000, supply a DNA sample, and have no contact with any of the victims.
