The following activities are planned at Tuscarora or Locust Lake state parks in Barnesville, Schuylkill County.
Park volunteer Tom Powers will present a program on the native reptiles and amphibians of Pennsylvania.The program will be held at Locust Lake amphitheater at 6 p.m. Saturday.He will talk about their habitat and diet. Some live animals will be on hand. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the program shelter located near the campstore.Park naturalist from Tuscarora State Park will lead a hike at 10:30
a.m.July 20 of the Wolf Creek Falls in Saint Clair.Participants will meet at the north end of the Walmart parking lot off Route 61 in the Coal Creek Commerce Center complex. The hike is 7 miles and rated difficult.The hike is dog friendly, but all pets must be leashed and get along well with people and other pets. Bring water and a lunch.Due to limited space, registration is required by contacting Robin Tracey at 570-467-2506. Shine only.Kathy Kelchner, environmental education specialist at Frances Slocum State Park, will present "insects and their cousins" at the Locust Lake amphitheater at 6
p.m.July 22. Kelchner uses live insects and hands-on teaching to educate the public about insects.For more information call Tracey between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.In case of inclement weather, meet at the program shelter next to the campstore. The program is free to the public.
