Tamaqua woman threatened constable, police with knife

A Tamaqua woman put up a fight when a state constable tried to arrest her on June 23.

The constable was at the home of Bernadette Moulthrop, 46, of 29 E. Elm St., Tamaqua, with the intent of serving her with an active warrant for her arrest. She refused to go with the constable and began hitting him, pushing him away and kicking him. He used pepper spray to get her to back off, then called Tamaqua Police for back up.When the officer arrived, Moulthrop grabbed a knife from the sink strainer and threatened the men.She was disarmed, placed in handcuffs and taken to the office of District Judge Stephen Bayer to answer to the warrant.Tamaqua Police have charged her with two felony counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment and disorderly conduct.
